Energy 4 Orphans is proud to announce that we raised $9,000 for the Deenabandhu Trust Children’s Home in Chamrajanagar, Karnataka, South India.
This unique and charitable organization has been improving the lives of orphaned, destitute, and economically disadvantaged children and young adults since 1992. It is currently the warm home to about 50 orphaned and destitute children. There are 35 boys and 14 girls.
Deenabandhu is currently constructing a new, fully eco-friendly girl’s campus. Presently, the 14 girls at Deenabandhu live in a small (yet very well cared for), rented house. This new campus will allow the organization to care for up to 40 girls. Without anywhere to go these children are often forced into bitter and abusive street life.

Deenabandhu is an exceptional, nurturing institution that encourages the arts, sciences, and more. In addition to the children’s home, Deenabandhu maintians a 260-child school inspired by the Montessori Method. Here they provide a free and very impressive education to about 260 children (1st to 7th standard, and to 8th standard in the next school year) from the Chamrajanagar district. The instituion also runs a number of social-welfare programs that benefit rural communities and destitute women.

The current girls house at Deenabandhu is home to 14 girls (ages 4 to 13) and 2 house mother's.

Progress of the new girls home as of January, 2009. We have been able to merge our funds with funding from an additional organization, allowing Deenabandhu to construct a fully eco-friendly girls campus. Construction should be complete over the next 8 months.

The new home is being constructed out of sustainable fly-ash brick.

Many of the girls are serious students of Bharata Natyam dance.

Both Sophie and Michelle spent some time sharing yoga at Deenabandhu in 2008.
All dressed up for the annual School Day performance.
